Who Needs Face Fit Testing?

It is extremely important for workers operating in environments filled with harmful substances contaminating the air, such as dust, gas or fumes, to receive proper Face Fit Testing for their masks. The following work activities can require a Face Fit Test:

  • Cutting wood or stone materials

  • Using products with volatile solvents

  • Handling a dusty powder

  • Welding stainless steel

Fit4Work's Hygiene Respiratory (P2/N95 mask) Fit testing evaluates whether respirators form an adequate seal around the worker's face and checks if the wearer is receiving sufficient protection against the contaminating substances.

Preparing for a Face Fit Test

Before

Workers must be clean shaven. Any facial hair around the face piece sealing surface, e.g. beard or moustache, will negatively affect Fit testing and miscalculate the intended level of protection. Additionally, it is not advisable to eat, drink, smoke or chew gum 30 minutes before the test. Drinking water is allowed.

During

The Face Fit Test will take approximately 15-20 minutes. All of our staff trained in using RPE, meaning you will receive the highest standard of testing.

After

After the Face Fit Test has been completed, the full test results will be communicated to the worker in a confidential matter. Where applicable, we will also provide referrals to medical and audiological specialists. A comprehensive management report is also issued post visit, summarising our findings and future recommendations.

Fit4Work supplies all the necessary documentation to comply with regulatory requirements and schedules your future testing appointments.
